Online acne consultation in South Africa
Acne that keeps coming back is worth a proper conversation with a doctor. The Skin Crowd lets you have that conversation online: you answer a short skin assessment, then meet a registered doctor by video at a time that suits you.
There is no clinic to travel to and no waiting room. You can book from Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg or a small town — anywhere in South Africa with a phone or laptop and a data connection.
Initial consultation R 250 — once-off, non-refundable. Consult fee only.
How an online acne consultation works
The whole process happens online and takes three steps.
- Skin assessment, about 5 minutes: questions about your acne, how long you have had it, what you have tried, your skin's sensitivity and your medical history. An account keeps your answers linked to you.
- Book a video consult: pick a time, upload a few clear photos of your skin, and pay the R250 consultation fee. Your appointment is confirmed once payment succeeds.
- Meet your doctor, about 20 minutes: she goes through your answers and photos with you, asks follow-up questions and discusses a skin-care plan suited to your skin.
What it costs
The initial consultation is R250, once-off and non-refundable. It covers the consultation only, and there is no obligation to sign up for anything afterwards.
You can reschedule free of charge up to 12 hours before your appointment. The full fee details are on our pricing page.
Who you will speak to
Consultations are with Dr Christine van Looy, a registered medical practitioner (HPCSA MP0879240). She is a GP, not a dermatologist, and refers you to a specialist or for an in-person examination when your skin needs one.
Who it is for
For any age living in South Africa. Under-18s need a parent or guardian to consent and to join the video consultation.
An online consult suits ongoing blackheads, breakouts along the jaw or chin, acne on the back or chest, and dark marks left behind after spots. Painful, infected or rapidly worsening skin needs in-person care, and your doctor will tell you if that applies to you.
